The Young Maid

She is young. She is the youngest in the family. That my friend; beyond doubt explains the awkwardness in her daily working routine. She doesn’t do anything unless I instruct her in which at times, I find it nice but it can also be very annoying. I mean, you should know when to clean up the toilet, wash the bin without even being told coz, for goodness sake, it’s DIRTY and you are the maid, it was supposed to be YOUR list of things to do??!!! Am I right?

Yes, she did whatever things she’s been told to do. And her work of art is fine as in VERY FINE. I mean, I probably cannot blame her because she can actually do stuff, it is just that I need to show her how to do it first. Perhaps, once she got it all right then everything will start to be ok?

However, yesterday was different. I was busy cooking in the kitchen and my young maid looked after the kids. Then, Dedek came running to me asking me to change her diapers. So, I called my young maid to do it. To my surprise, my young maid came to tell me that Dedek poo-ed. I was like, d’uh! I tried to calm myself down. I told her in a good mannered way. Don’t you know how to wash her? She shook her head. Then, shouldn’t you be learning how to wash her? I mean, you should start somewhere, right? (Note: I haven’t been asking her to bath or wash my kids ever since she worked with me. Thus, this would be her first time.)

So, the question now is, what should I do with her? How do I go about it? Do I need to drag her with me and show her how I wash my kids or can I just leave my kids with her for one whole day and tell her to bath, clean and wash them if needed? Which one do you think is best? I mean, I don’t want to sound horrible.

That is why sometimes come to think of it right, it would be easier if I were to hire an older woman to work with me because I am not the ‘commanding’ kind of employer and I am hoping the maid itself would know what to do, even without me asking.
