A Night in Infirmary

We reached HKL very early that Sunday morning to admit my kids for the 24 hours urine just to be test again. I registered the kids and made ourselves in Wad KK5, my kids and I happily settling in on our beds. Then, the nurse came to us. She was telling us that we were only going to start taking the urine test tomorrow morning because there is no container and she could only get the container on Monday. I gaped at her. I was like, huh! Giving her an “Are you sure?” face. My brain no longer did any thinking. It lets the mouth do all the bad-talks.

“If there is no container, so why do we need to come today? As for what I have been told, the container is already here. It is just that we could not have it last Friday due to the lab is close on Saturdays. Thus, we were told to come today, so I do not need to take anymore leaves, and most importantly we could proceed with the 24 hours urine test, even though partially my Monday will be touched.”

I could not stand the repeated muddle anymore. I shut my mouth after the outburst because I do not want to make a scene. I let my hubby to take it from there. After a while, I saw the nurse walking towards me bringing the container.

Dalam hati, “Hah! Ada pun. Kalau tak dek tadi, memang dah nak mengamuk tahap gaban dah ni.” Hehe…

Endless worries of taking the 24 hours urine has finally ceased. The doctor placed a urinary catheter a flexible plastic tube used to drain urine from your bladder when you cannot urinate by yourself. The catheter is inserted through the urethra, the opening that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. Once the catheter is in the bladder, a small balloon is inflated to keep the catheter in place. The catheter allows urine to drain from the bladder into a bag that is attached to the thigh.

So, at 9am this morning, the whole 24 hours urine finished. After taking out the urinary catheter and checked by the doctor, they were then been discharged.

Phew! Glad that this whole thing is over. But, don’t get too excited, because I need to be back for the Glucose Test. At least, I am done with the urine thingy, rite?

Just imagine, the four of us squeezing ourselves on the single bed. It was a zig-zag sleeping style, a 2 by 2 and end to end. Cramped, yet it made us close to each other.

Though, a nice thing I get from this is, since there is no tv and no other entertainment for me, I get to read my storybooks. Haha… and my hubby were left alone, sleeping without my care and attention. :)
