Teacher? Lecturer? Trainer? Whatever you call it… ;).

Do you guys remember those days, whereby you have to fill in some forms and then, there’s a column in which you have to fill in on what is it that you want to be when you are older, meaning after you finish school/study?

I still remember, I guess I was still at primary school and it actually asked you to list 5 occupations. I always put Teacher@Lecturer as my first option. Second would be Accountant, third is Lawyer, Fourth is Counselor (I guess, I may have been influenced by my dad, that is! Hehe) and finally, I think it’s a Doctor. Can’t really remember..

But, ultimately, I became an IT person. Anyways, my love or my desire (pergh.. dasat tuh!) to become a Teacher@Lecturer masih membara. Kuang3x..

And so, where does this entry leads to? Well, last week and the week before, I got the opportunity to train or teach 20 ELTPs – Entry Level Training Program. My company.. oopss, sorry! Terlepas lah pulak.. heheh.. the company I am working for have a training program for fresh graduates. It’s a 3 months program and they will be taught on every single thing there is need to know in the IT world, from Java, to C, to DBA, to Data Warehouse, Project Management, Modelling and lots more. I would say that these guys are very lucky, because not only that they get to be trained but, they also get paid for it and it’s not ‘sikit’, banyak gell beb! RM2K ++ tau!!! Ader bagus??? Heheh..

But, of course after each class they will need to undergo an online exam. This is to ensure that they really understand and when the time comes they are able to apply what they have learned. Also, the exam is taken so that, the management will know in which area the person is good at and so, they will be absorbed to the appropriate team such as they can either be under BIDW (Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse) department, Network and Support department and so forth. Ain’t it cool?

Anyways, back to my Teacher@Lecturer story.. heheh.. I was given the task to train them on Data Warehouse Concepts. Haha.. dah lah esok nak training, hari ni baru bagi slides. Boleh? Biasalah kan benda-benda ad-hoc nih!

Dahlah tuh, class I nih start the first puasa itself. Punyerlah I risau if the students ngantuk and will not concentrate on my class. Bukan apa, I am worried if they do not pass the exam, bukan ker I will be blame for it nanti. See, it’s actually a big responsibility tau! Tak leh main-main punyer…

So, that night, punyerlah I pikir on what is the best way to make it fun and also, make them understand what I teach them at the same time. Not long after, ‘ting’… idea sudah mari.. heheh…

Since, my subject is totally theory so it’s definitely going to be boring unless I make it very interactive. So this is what I did, I actually divide them into 4 groups. I did pop quiz ;). I told them that the quiz will be an on-going and marks will be accumulated until the last day of training. And of course, the group who wins will get something lah kan! So, apalagi.. students I semuanyer berkobar-kobarlah, in which is good because learning have become a fun thing, now! Don’t you think? Heheh…

Well, maybe some people disagree with the approach that I am taking but to me, so long the knowledge is being passed from the trainer to the students and so, that would be enough!

So, my class was really noisy and very interactive. But, the outcome was superb. Not only they are able to do presentations with slides but, they are able to explain without looking at their notes. I am so proud of them!!

And so, let me leave you with pictures of me and my ‘kids’.. heheh..

Sempat posing sambil tunggu the next group to present their slides

Last day, right before I nak balik. My tangan dah pegang pintu tuh sebenarnya.. heheh

Majlis Berbuka Puasa di rumah 'Trainer'... I lah tuh... heheh

p/s: What made my day and what made me happier was, at the end of the session they shook my hands and said “Thank you very much and we love the way you teach”. Gosh! I felt so happy. I felt appreciated and to top it all, I felt that I have become a TEACHER @ LECTURER @ TRAINER. Heheh..
