While at work, I felt as if, I am not feeling well. I felt lethargy, weak and a bit of giddiness. I already have the intention of taking MC even the night before, but as usual, I had the don’t-know-how-to-get-MC symptom. Hence, I decided to go to work ;).
Anyways, after an hour sitting at my place, I can’t seem to think and I can’t seem to get any work done. Alas, I ended up calling my client in Singapore and told her that I am taking an MC. After updating her on all my job status, I left the office.
Since I just moved to Seri Kembangan, I didn’t know which clinic I should go as I have yet to have a favourite. Anyways, I finally chose Poliklinik Medik because that was the first clinic I saw. Hahah..
Thank god it was empty, so I didn’t have to wait for long. After registering myself I was called in.
Here’s what happened in the clinic room :
Doctor : So, what’s the problem?
Me : * In Nervous Mode* I am not feeling well. I think, I am too tired due to I have been working non-stop, day and night these past few months.
Doctor : What do you do?
Me : I’m in the IT line.
Doctor : How’s your appetite?
Me : I guess, I may have lost my appetite.
Doctor : What did you have this morning?
Me : Cucur Badak.
*A huge smirk was on the doctor’s face*
Then, he began his checking on me. He first looked into my throat, asking me to take out my tongue. Next, he looked into my eyes. I think, I did give him sort of a confuse look but he totally ignored me. He then, continued by taking my blood pressure. He still did not say a word. After that, he checked my heart beat. He was doing that for quite a long time. I was starting to have doubts when he started to place that-thing-doctor-use-to-listen-to-heartbeat under my breast. However, the suspicion faded when I saw the nurse was behind me watching. At least, I know that he is not trying to do anything, right? Well, unless they had some conspiracy. Heheh..
Anyways, back to my story. The doctor then gave me a look and again starting to ask me questions.
Doctor : Have you ever been hospitalized before?
Me : Erk.. No!
Doctor : When was the last time you did medical check up?
Me : Erk.. Few months back in Singapore.
Doctor : And, nobody said anything?
Me : Erk.. No!
Doctor : Well, you definitely have a heart problem.
Me : I, what???
Doctor : Have you ever checked your pulse before?
Me : Erk.. I cannot remember.
Doctor : I would suggest you to go to IJN for full check up.
Me : huh!!!! But, I don’t understand. *With a very shocked face*
Doctor : Let me explain to you after this. Don’t worry, your condition is not serious but it is better for you to have a full check up. Reason being, I, myself are not so sure but, what I gather you might have a mild Rheumatic Heart Disease.
Me : Say, what? I have no idea. *A stupid face appeared on my face*
Doctor : Ok, let me draw you something but, my drawing is not too good though. I will make it simple for you.
So, the doctor drew a picture of the heart and how it works. He showed me that my heart is not functioning well, it is as if that one of it is closed that my blood circulation is not able to flow accordingly. Instead, since whatever it is closed then, a turbulent occurred due to the blood goes back to the top. So, his worry is that, I might be getting blood clogged at that area. This suddenly reminds me of my uncle. Hmm..
Doctor : How old are you?
Me : 31
Doctor : Married?
Me : Yes.
Doctor : Do you have kids?
Me : Yes.
Doctor : Where did you deliver? Don’t they check your heart or something before?
Me : Erk.. delivered in UK and Bandar Baru Bangi but, I seriously cannot remember what has been done. Is this recent? I mean, is it due to me very tired?
Doctor : This is definitely not recent. I would say, you might have it from young. This is due to repeat infections that you might have.
Me : Huh! It’s been for long? So, what do I do, then?
Doctor : What I would say is when you feel like you have a sore throat. Please quickly see a doctor and get antibiotics although normally doctors don’t give antibiotics but do ask. Cause, it would be worst for you.
Me : Oh ok. *I think, I do understand what he is talking about, one way or another* How do I go this IJN? *A stupid question from my big mouth*
Doctor : I will give you a referral letter and you can to IJN or any hospitals to see a cardiologist.
The doctor then added, “You have to stop eating oily foods for a while. Eat bread, rice, porridge.”
Me : Erk.. ok. *I think, I am still digesting myself to the news. I was not giving him much of a response*
Doctor : My advise, just go and check. It might be RHD or it might not. It can also be something else or nothing too. However, the best thing is just have it check so that we would know what to do. Then, once you know, please let me know too.
Me : Oh ok. I will.
After that, the conversation continued with me asking him some other stupid questions on supplements. He patiently entertained me. How thoughtful of him ;).
Then, I think after nearly half an hour. I left his room. My head is so aggressively thinking, what just happened and trying so hard to digest all the information that I have gathered so far. I mean, I know that it is nothing serious as in cancer or anything but the thought of me having just whatever sickness is unbelievable. I mean, I have been doing lots and lots of check ups and never at all, I was diagnosed with a sickness. I was always, always healthy.
Hmm.. I really wonder. What is it that I really feel, right now? I think, I am still in a very confused state!!!
I wrote this entry not to ask for sympathy or anything. Please don’t get me wrong. I am writing just to express myself, just to write it all down so that I could see that it was for real and maybe, just maybe if anybody knows about this thingy, would care enough to give me some tips on it.
Gosh! I thought that I was young and healthy. Man, now I think I am old and sick!!!
